Job Description:

The Neighborhood Initiative (NI), a program of On The Move, aims to build neighborhoods where every child can claim a future in which all possibilities are real and attainable. The NI serves families in both Napa and American Canyon, running four core programs at 7 different school sites:

  1. Youth Leadership Academies, offering programming to youth from 4th to 12th grade.
  2. Family Resource Centers, at Napa Junction, Shearer, McPherson and Phillips Elementary
  3. Parent University, offering education and engagement opportunities to parents
  4. Napa County Recovery Center, programming to meet the needs that arise from community wide disasters

The Disaster Preparedness Program Coordinator will work with staff, youth and parent leaders to ensure outreach and education for disaster preparedness is met for vulnerable populations; immigrant, farmworker and refugee communities; households with Limited English Proficiency; Children, Youth and Senior Citizens with Limited English Proficiency.

The Coordinator will assist the Program Director in ensuring deliverables are met alongside completing reports and tracking program expenses. This position will also coordinate with partner agencies and On the Move’s initiatives to schedule outreach events, community training and educational events. And collaborate with state and local agencies, CAL OES and the Cities of Napa and American Canyon, to ensure communities are empowered and prepared for current and future disasters. The Coordinator will participate in strategies with partners, staff and targeted communities. The Coordinator will be responsible but not limited to, coordinating activities & providing training and education to service providers to better assess and serve the targeted communities.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes and coordinates the development of all events, outreach activities, meetings and materials/collateral, in the promotion and administration of the LISTOS California Statewide Program.
  • Administer, monitor and supervise all phases of operations and program development
  • Assess and evaluate services to inform, develop and refine program components
  • Work with the Program Director to record, track, and submit weekly/monthly reports and required information as necessary for grant purposes
  • Identify and analyze operational problems and implement corrective procedural changes
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, partners and colocated staff
  • Maintain timely and thorough documentation of services provided families for reporting and assessment purposes
  • Act as an advocate for and liaison between clients and other resource providers and organizations; collaborates with service providers, governmental and non-governmental agencies and other organizations and businesses
  • Share additional resources and/or referrals as needed
  • Organize and prepare information for meetings, briefings, and conversations with clients, staff and external partners. Some travel to meetings and/or events as needed during the weekday
  • Participate in trainings, supervisions and bi-annual performance reviews with the Program Director
  • Work closely with all internal program staff to provide relevant services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 years of experience in non-profit program development
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and oral
  • Expertise in project management and program development
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain structures and systems
  • Relevant experience working with youth and families from different ethnic, cultural, social and economic backgrounds
  • Ability to organize, and prioritize work of self, individuals and teams
  • Ability to effectively manage risk, and respond effectively to a variety of changing situations
  • Strong communication skills including public speaking
  • Understanding of team development and community organizing skills
  • Understanding of the Napa and American Canyon communities
  • Capable of completing detailed documentation, paperwork and data entry
  • Ability to recognize one’s strengths and weaknesses and engage in ongoing development

ADDITIONAL NOTES

This is a grant funded position. Working under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator provides programmatic and administrative support to help achieve the goals and objectives of the LISTOS California Statewide Program. The position ends on 12/31/2025, with the possibility of extending based on performance and future funding.
