Firefighter

The Firefighter will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical care, and extinguishing fires. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Fire Chief and/or designee in the Fire Department.

• Administer pre-hospital emergency medical care to the sick, injured, and at the scene of an emergency response and disaster incidents.
• Respond to various fire alarms and take action to extinguish fires, minimize fire and water damage, and prevent injury and loss of life.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate all fire equipment and apparatus and physical ability to perform manual labor with a variety of equipment.
• Demonstrate firefighting skills, hazardous material incident skills, and rescue and medical skills during training and on emergency incidents.

• Physical labor is an essential component, requiring full range of body motion to access sensors in ceilings, ducts, and other out-of-way locations.
• Must possess normal eye sight, hearing, and sense of smell, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• The position requires a Background Investigation and Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
