International Purchasing Manager

Reports to: Company President

Job Summary

Encore Specialty Foods is a second-generation family owned and operated importer of foodservice and retail specialty food products, with our head office located in Hingham, MA, and inventory stored and physically managed at a 3PL warehouse in New Jersey.

The International Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing inventory levels of 200+ products from around the world to maximize customer order fill rates, minimize order shorts, and reduce overstocked inventory. Additional responsibilities include managing all daily communication with 50+ existing vendors and new vendors by phone, email and via NetSuite ERP system, working hand in hand with the sales team to identify and source new items to add to Encore Specialty Foods’ growing collection of specialty food products.

Responsibilities

-          Daily review of demand plan in NetSuite ERP system.

-          Issue purchase orders to vendors, communicate with vendors and freight forwarders to establish loading and arrival dates in U.S.

-          Communicate daily with international and domestic vendors via phone and email regarding open purchase orders, purchase order lead times, pricing, etc. 

-          Work directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers and 3PL warehouse to ensure efficient and timely receipt of inventory into 3PL warehouse.

-          Review and manage product landed costs, communicate cost increases to sales team and company management.

-          Analyze inventory to identify overstocked items, short-coded items, and product allocations. Communicate findings to sales team and company management.

-          Daily communication with sales team to identify and source new items from existing vendors and new suppliers.

-          Create ana manage all item information including product description, item numbers, UPC numbers, etc.

-          Research and identify new vendor partners.

-          Liaise between marketing department and vendors to ensure accurate labeling of products.

-          Liaise between product vendors and third-party food safety compliance agency.

-          Travel to international trade shows to meet with existing vendors and identify new suppliers.

-          Additional tasks and projects related to purchasing and inventory/item management.

Qualifications

-          Experience in international supply chain, purchasing and logistics. Experience in the food industry preferred.

-          Experience working with ERP systems. Experience with NetSuite preferred.

-          Availability to travel to two domestic trade shows (January/June) and one or more international trade shows per year.

-          Excellent organization, written and oral communication, and attention to detail.

-          Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
