The Roadway Construction Inspector is an integral part of our Construction Management Team. This position is based out of Orlando, Florida.

 

Kinard-Stone, Inc. (KSI) - A 23-year plus established consulting engineering firm is looking for Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI)/Roadway Inspector(s) to work in the Orlando area. The Inspector will be responsible for conducting on-site inspection of work in progress by the contractor and performing assignments that assists the Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.

Responsibilities for the Inspector position include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a timely schedule for completing duties and arrive on-site as scheduled and on time.
  • Monitor the contractor’s on-site construction activities and inspection of materials incorporated into the work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and special provisions of the construction contract.
  • Maintain detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations and events that affect the work.
  • Monitoring and inspecting contractor’s work zone traffic control plan, as well as reviewing modifications to the plan.
  • Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work in accordance with the construction contract.

Requirements: - High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of work experience in construction inspection. Must have the certifications listed below or be willing to obtain within a 6-month time period

Qualifications: As stipulated by Client and may include:

  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • FDEP Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector

To be a successful KSI CEI Inspector, you must possess the following characteristics:

  • Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
  • Be able to multi-task in a team environment
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems
  • Be able to communicate effectively-verbal and written

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in the field. Ability to perform extensive bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs. as needed. The majority of work will be conducted outside on various projects with some office work.

A background and driving record check will be performed before offer of employment.

Projects have varied in complexity from installing signs and milling and resurfacing to Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreements (UWHCA) and Complex Category II bridges to placing the first-a-kind Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) in the State of Florida at the intersection of Daniels Parkway and Gunnery Road. We have extensive knowledge of the FDOT’s processes and critical path method (CPM) schedules.
