Job Overview

This role is crucial for overseeing complex technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout. The selected candidate will be tasked with making and verifying engineering calculations, inspecting construction activities, and performing field tests while also managing junior inspectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute intricate technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout.
  • Verify engineering computations, oversee construction inspections, and conduct necessary field tests.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of lower-level inspectors.
  • Compile and submit daily reports detailing work performed, adhering to company and client standards.
  • Ensure adherence to the contractor's health and safety protocols.
  • Monitor compliance with contract specifications by the contractor.
  • Confirm that materials delivered meet contract requirements.
  • Assess contractor's layout for accuracy and compliance.

Additional Duties:

  • Travel as necessary in relation to job responsibilities or as directed by management.
  • Perform other tasks as required that align with the position's responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for length, area, and volume.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, including two (2) years in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, excluding Complex Category 2 (CC2) bridge structures.
  • Experience with FDOT is preferred.
  • A Civil Engineering degree combined with one (1) year of road and bridge CEI experience can substitute for the four (4) years of experience required.
