Position Overview

CDR Companies, a prominent multi-disciplinary engineering and emergency management consulting firm, is on the lookout for experienced CEI Inspectors to support various projects across Florida. This role entails undertaking intricate technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout, executing engineering calculations, inspecting construction activities, and performing field tests. The successful candidate will also oversee and coordinate the efforts of junior inspectors, all while working under the general guidance of the Project Administrator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout.
  • Perform engineering computations, inspect construction activities, and carry out field tests.
  • Supervise and manage junior inspectors effectively.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports detailing work completed in line with CDR Companies' and client requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to the contractor's health and safety protocols.
  • Verify compliance with contract documents by the contractor.
  • Inspect delivered materials to ensure they meet contract specifications.
  • Assess contractor's layout for accuracy and precision.

Additional Duties:

  • Travel as necessary in relation to job responsibilities or as directed by management.
  • Perform other related tasks as required, consistent with the position's title and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for length, area, and volume.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, including two (2) years in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, excluding Complex Category 2 (CC2) bridge structures.
  • Experience with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects.
  • A Civil Engineering degree combined with one (1) year of road and bridge CEI experience may substitute for the four (4) years of experience required.

  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts, including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)
  • CTQP Grouting Technician Level I
  • CTQP Post-Tensioning Technician Level I
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I

Certifications Required:

  • FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
