About the Role

Join a stable and growing company in the chemicals, oil & gas, mining, and materials industry as a Project Manager. This role involves leading major multi-million dollar plant-based projects. Expect to work in challenging environments with high heat, humidity, dust, and potential extreme cold. Travel to other facilities is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Manage projects up to $10 million, coordinating multiple projects.
  • Project Development: Facilitate business case development, cost estimates, and project execution plans.
  • Scope and Objectives: Clearly define project goals and communicate them to all stakeholders.
  • Integration and Execution: Develop and manage project plans, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, and budget metrics.
  • Risk Management: Lead risk analysis and mitigation planning.
  • Team Organization: Assemble and manage project teams, ensuring clarity and accountability.
  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day project operations, review deliverables, and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, reporting progress and resolving issues.
  • Performance Monitoring: Measure project performance and provide regular updates on cost and schedule.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct lessons learned sessions to drive future project improvements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in industrial plant project management, engineering, or construction management in the heavy industry manufacturing sector. Must be dirty manufacturing such as chemicals, mining, oil/gas,
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong project management skills, understanding of safety, engineering, cost control, and scheduling. Proficient in written communication, contract management, and leadership.

Technical Skills

  • Solid knowledge of project management practices and ability to manage projects holistically.
  • Understanding of safety protocols, engineering principles, cost estimation, and performance metrics.
  • Competency in preparing reports, project correspondence, and managing contracts.
  • Familiarity with revenue models, profit and loss, and project completion projections.
  • Proficiency in managing project budgets and facilitating team meetings.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear full PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, steel toe boots, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test.
  • Regularly stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and handle long walks.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights with fall protection.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Good depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
