Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design teams, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls when necessary.
  • Become familiar with the codes that are applicable to the project.
  • Use AutoCAD and other software to create electrical construction document packages which plans include electrical distribution equipment, devices (receptacles, etc.), equipment connections, luminaires, controls, fire alarm initiating devices and notification appliances, all associated circuitry, appropriate schedules and details, one line/riser diagrams, and construction specifications.
  • Perform all required calculations to support design decisions, including load calculations, short-circuit calculations, and photometric calculations.
  • Coordinate with local utility companies to provide the required utility services to the project.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for the selection and specification of appropriate equipment.
  • Provide construction administration (CA) services, including answering requests for information (RFIs).
  • Provide mentoring and guidance for colleagues.

What We Are Looking For:

  • In possession of an ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis or Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • Five or more years of electrical design experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant.
  • Advanced proficiency with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code).
  • In possession of Engineer-Intern (EI) credentials in Electrical Engineering.
  • In possession of or ability to obtain, Professional Engineer (PE) credentials in Electrical Engineering.
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments coupled with a desire to work efficiently.
