Job Summary

As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating detailed functional and physical design drawings of electrical equipment and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Development: Prepares detailed functional and physical design drawings of electrical equipment and related facilities in accordance with accepted design practices and standards.
  • Material Selection: Selects materials and prepares material lists based on standards, specifications, operation requirements, and engineers' direction.
  • Design Review: Assembles and reviews project drawings for accuracy, completeness, content, and compliance with accepted drawing standards and format.
  • Design Revision: Revises drawings in accordance with checking feedback and other requirements.
  • Design Collaboration: Participates in design conferences and makes field trips to determine project power, control, and grounding needs and functional requirements.
  • Design Communication: Meets with engineers and field operational teams to help determine project design scope and reports status of designs to project engineer and project manager.
  • Process Improvement: Participates in task forces, conferences, and training sessions to streamline or re-engineer internal/external processes as required.
  • Design Calculations: Performs calculations including electrical load calculations, conduit and electrical system sizing, and equipment capacity.
  • Design Compliance: Ensures design drawings meet Company specifications, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Design Support: Assists Engineers with resolving any electrical design issues and developing effective solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: An associate's degree in engineering or a related field, a technical degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Three to four years of related experience in gas pipeline engineering, operations, or construction is preferred.
  • Skills: A strong analytical ability, good interpersonal and human relation skills, good judgment in problem-solving and decision-making, thorough understanding of related drafting tools, procedures, and techniques, proficiency with AutoCAD and Excel, and experience with Adobe/BlueBeam is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge in engineering and operations-related codes, standards, and procedures, i.e., (DOT, FERC, OSHA, NNG, etc.).
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent PC skills, including familiarity with Windows environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work with changing priorities and exacting deadlines, ability to make periodic field trips as required, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
