SUMMARY:

 

Lincoln Industries, a leader in innovative manufacturing solutions, is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Business Development to spearhead the growth of our business by identifying and closing new strategic accounts. This role is pivotal in driving substantial revenue growth, targeting $1MM projects with the potential to expand these accounts to $10MM. The Director of Business Development will leverage Lincoln Industries' internal manufacturing capabilities and supply chain/value-add services, and new technologies to close complex, engineered sales.

  • Strategic Account Acquisition: Identify, target, and secure new strategic accounts. Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to achieve substantial revenue growth.
  • Complex Sales Closure: Lead the sales process for complex, engineered projects. Navigate technical conversations with engineering-minded individuals and influence executive decision-makers to close high-value deals.
  • Innovative Technology Sales: Champion Lincoln Industries' innovative technologies, positioning them as first-to-market solutions that differentiate OEMs and solve critical industry problems. Communicate the unique value propositions of these technologies to prospective clients.
  • Relationship Building: Quickly build rapport with potential clients and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that leverage Lincoln Industries' capabilities.
  • High-Margin Market Focus: Target growing markets where Lincoln Industries can differentiate and achieve desired margins. Avoid commoditized markets where competition is primarily based on price.
  • Negotiation Expertise: Serve as an expert negotiator, effectively handling contract discussions and closing high-value deals. Address objections and find mutually beneficial solutions for both the client and Lincoln Industries.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of Lincoln Industries' manufacturing processes and supply chain capabilities. Communicate complex technical information clearly and persuasively to clients.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape. Provide strategic insights to inform business development strategies.  Participate in technical conferences, industry events, and tradeshows for potential business generation. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and sourcing, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery of value-added services to clients.
  • Leadership and Culture: Embody and promote Lincoln Industries' values and culture. Participate in wellness programs, leadership and company events, and other company initiatives to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of business development activities, sales pipeline, and client interactions. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management.
  • Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals
  • Environmental responsibility is our commitment to our communities.
  • Proper disposal of waste such as recyclables, standard waste, hazardous waste, etc. is expected.
  • Any other tasks as required fulfilling Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

  • Reports to:  Vice President, Business Development

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

 

  • Proven track record of successfully closing complex, high-value sales, preferably in the manufacturing or engineering sector.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong technical acumen, capable of navigating technical conversations and understanding complex engineered solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred, 5-years’ experience.

Physical Requirements:
