As an Early Childhood Family Engagement Specialist, you will play a vital role in fostering strong connections between families and early childhood education programs via the Early Learning Collaborative. You will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies to engage families in their child's early learning experiences, promoting active participation in educational activities, providing support to families to enhance their understanding of child development and education, and developing culturally relevant and responsive curricular materials. Please note this is a one year, grant-funded position. 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop Family Engagement Strategies: Collaborate with early childhood educators and administrators to develop comprehensive family engagement strategies that align with the goals and mission of the Early Learning Collaborative.
  • Implement Outreach Programs: Organize and implement outreach programs to actively involve families in their child's educational journey, including workshops, parent education sessions, and family events.
  • Facilitate Communication: Serve as a liaison between families and educators, facilitating effective communication channels to ensure that parents are informed about their child's progress, educational activities, and any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Provide Parent Support: Offer support and resources to parents to enhance their understanding of child development, positive parenting techniques, and ways to support their child's learning at home.
  • Coordinate Workshops and Training: Plan and conduct workshops and training sessions for parents on various topics related to early childhood development, literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
  • Create Culturally Relevant Educational Materials: Develop educational materials, resources, and toolkits, with a particular focus on Black and Brown children, for families to use at home to support their child's learning and development.
  • Promote Community Partnerships (where appropriate): Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and resources to provide additional support and services to families, such as access to healthcare, social services, and parenting support groups.
  • Evaluate Effectiveness: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of family engagement initiatives, gathering feedback from parents and educators to identify areas for improvement and adjustment. Work closely with the external evaluator to collect and analyze data. 
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of family engagement activities, attendance, and feedback to track progress and demonstrate outcomes to stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, family studies, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience working with young children and families in educational or community settings.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and family dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering educational workshops and presentations.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively plan and coordinate family engagement activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of educators, administrators, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services available to support families.
  • Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in early childhood education.
