Maintenance Technician
Shifts:     2nd and 3rd  Shift
Salary:    $25-$31 p/Hr.
Location:   Taunton, MA 02780
Schedule:  Rotating Weekends+Overtime
Site:     Food Production Company
DIRECT HIRE POSITION

Job Purpose of the Maintenance Technicia

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed to keep machines and mechanical equipment operating efficiently and in a safe manner for a Food Production company.
  • Coordinate with Plant Management to establish maintenance schedules on various machines to minimize downtime on production.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technicia

  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and instructions (Good manufacturing Practices, LOTO, Work Permits, etc.)
  • Create and manage work orders in L2L, conducting necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Always Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and ensure all Maintenance Personnel are following Lockout/Tagout procedures at all times.
  • Inspect, operate or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repair machines, equipment or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Maintain constant communication with Plant Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise so that Plant Management can adjust their production schedule accordingly.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of machines and equipment at beginning and end of shifts.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications of the Maintenance Technicia

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have minimum of 3 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred with  Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong comprehension on PLC, VFD, HMI, Boilers, Refrigeration, Pumps, Schematics and Pneumatics   preferred.
  • Familiar with PM programs such an MVP or Leading to Lean Highly organized.
  • Highly motivated to strive for operational excellence and coach others Strong communicator both written      and verbal.
  • Detail oriented, Multitasker.
  • Interpersonal savvy – works well with all types of people, cultures and work ethics Knowledge and experience with food safety.

Training Requirements of the Maintenance Technician

  • General Safety
  • Quality System Awareness Food Safety & SQF Training LOTO
  • Forklift certification(s).

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Most of the shift is on the floor and in the maintenance shop

Work Environment:

  • Facility is a combination of Plant and Office Environment.
  • Regular exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
  • Climate controlled plant.
