Position Summary: Reporting to the CFO, the HR Coordinator will manage various HR functions, including onboarding, employee records and policies, talent acquisition, employee/labor relations, benefits and leave administration, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong, trusting business relationships with employees.
  • Onboarding: Ensure the seamless execution of the employee onboarding process, including pre-employment drug screenings.
  • Performance Evaluations: Oversee the timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Recruitment: Facilitate the recruitment process by creating and posting job ads, pre-screening candidates for leadership review, and scheduling interviews.
  • External Recruitment Liaison: Coordinate with external recruitment resources and leadership to attract candidates.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage the administration of employee benefits.
  • Workers' Compensation and Claims: Administer workers’ compensation and general liability claims.
  • Leave of Absence Administration: Handle the administration and designation of leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and PFL.
  • Compliant Separations: Ensure compliant employee separations and conduct exit interviews.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Employee Relations: Work closely with leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase retention.
  • General HR Inquiries: Handle general HR inquiries, employment verifications, E-Verify, I-9s, offer letters, etc.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Preferred degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline. PHR or SHRM-CP certification is advantageous. Relevant years of experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Experience: 3 years minimum of experience as an HR Coordinator.
  • Expertise: Must have experience with LOAs, OSHA, EEO, ADA, WC, labor laws, and benefits administration.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to effectively work with the executive team and collaborate with various departments.
    • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
    • Detail-oriented and accurate.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
    • Knowledge and experience in the construction or related industries are a plus.
    • Deep knowledge of HR-related federal, CA state, and local employment laws, programs, and best practices.
    • Demonstrate strong ethics and professionalism, handle matters with discretion and confidentiality, influence with positive outcomes, and manage stressful situations effectively.
    • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
