The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator for our Human Resources department. The Human Resources Coordinator works closely with the Human Resources Manager at the Natural History Museum to provide support for the Human Resources department. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reports to and assists the Human Resources Manager.

  • Coordinates with HR Manager to oversee the recruitment processes including coordinating with hiring managers, reviewing applications, processing background checks, creating offer letters, conducting New Hire Orientation, etc.

  • Coordinates with HR Manager to process employee offboarding including coordinating exit interviews, providing departing employees with exit documents, and logging shutdown of organization assets.

  • Coordinates with HR Manager to process employee status changes including DocuSign and letter completion.

  • Coordinates with HR Manager in addressing and tracking Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations. 6

  • Coordinates with HR Manager in hosting on-site Wellness Program, Wellness Fair, Retirement Education, and Flu Shots.


This position has the following requirements:

  • Two or more years’ experience in a human resources function including program facilitation, phones, data management, and customer service.

  • Proficient in using computers and with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic internet, email and calendaring system.

  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and scheduling conflicts, interpret instructions and analyze data.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, vendors and the general public.

  • Must be extremely organized and able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. Must be able to work efficiently and manage multiple projects at once.

  • Responsible for managing logistics and communications, interfacing and coordinating with all staff and contractors.
