In addition to a wide selection of our own treats, our Virginia Beach and Outer Banks retail stores also carry a trending candies, gummies, souvenir gifts, and clothing lines, while focusing on bringing out the nostalgic kid in every customer.

Forbes Candies Inc.is hiring for a full-time, self-motivated, organized, professional staff accountant/bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized multi-tasker with a strong understanding of payroll and generally accepted accounting principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make journal entries, balance and maintain accurate ledgers.
  • Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management.
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash forecast, profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Process payroll.
  • Prepare monthly sales tax returns and quarterly payroll tax returns, pay operating and business taxes.
  • Match receivers and purchase orders with invoices; enter and pay vendor invoices.
  • Bank reconciliations and track bank account balances and transactions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years QuickBooks Desktop experience required
  • Five years' experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and computerized accounting.
  • Experience in services related to payroll such as writing checks and submitting payroll taxes.
  • Strong understanding of business and requirements for income tax computation and supporting worksheets.
