ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Churchwide Communications
    • Emails
    • Texting System
    • Monthly Newsletter
    • Updates website information including online calendar
    • Monitor & post information to church social media accounts
  • Worship
    • Works with Sr. Pastor to produce worship bulletins
    • Procure worship supplies for staff, altar stewards, & communion stewards
    • Keeps schedule of worship volunteers
  • Finances
    • Verify deposits & enter into finance system
    • Process & prepare payment for church bills
    • Process payroll
    • Work with accountant to verify financial statements
    • Maintain budget line items including allocation of expenses & income
    • Maintain all church financial accounts
    • Distribute quarterly & end of year giving statements
  • Office Functions
    • Assists Sr. Pastor with administrative functions
    • Maintains master church calendar
    • Staffs & maintains office during church office hours including greeting of guests, answering/routing of telephone calls, & receiving/distribution of mail as well as inventory and purchasing of office supplies
    • Maintain and update church membership records
    • Coordinate facility rental and usage
    • Maintain appropriate records for employees & volunteers
    • Prepares reports for church council including weekly finance report & monthly packet
    • Prepare and submit other reports as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Able to complete child safety training and pass criminal background check
  • Able to proficiently operate a computer including the ability to use or learn to use church management software, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and a variety of online systems
  • Professional yet friendly demeanor in-person, on the telephone, and through written communication
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn details regarding the United Methodist Church, the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and First United Methodist Church of Wharton to be able to answer questions from others
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction well
