Baltimore City Is Not For Sale” Campaign Manager: Under the supervision of our Campaigns Director, the Campaign Manager will coordinate the activities of the “Baltimore City Is Not For Sale” coalition, guiding Progressive Maryland members and our allies to an electoral victory over attempts to defund the city and eliminate City Council positions. This is a temporary, contract position through November 2024, starting as a part-time role with the possibility of expanding to full-time closer to Election Day.
Responsibilities
- Organize coalition and steering committee members through regular meetings, one-to-one’s, and collective action. Expand the coalition to build our power;
- Organize and oversee community outreach and voter education through systematic engagement to community organizations and associations, congregations, and other gathering places in the city;
- Organize coalition members to meet voter contact goals via canvassing, polling place engagement, and other methods;
- Organize and oversee mass communications, including campaign website and social media, direct mail, earned media, and other paid media;
- Keep written records of campaign plans, activities, and expenditures; complete all legally required campaign reporting; organize individual and collective debrief spaces after Election Day to capture learnings for the future;
- Ability to travel around the city and be regularly on site for campaign canvasses and actions;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least two cycles of demonstrated experience in an issue or electoral campaign leadership role;
- Understanding of political communications; prior experience engaging local media;
- Familiarity with managing voter data and canvassing via VAN;
- Familiarity with digital coordination tools including Google Suite and Zoom;
- Weekend and evening hours availability;
Pluses (but not required)
- Knowledge of Baltimore City and Maryland politics;
- Prior experience working with or within the labor movement;
Salary, Benefits, and Position Details: This is a temporary, contract position through November 2024. The position will be half-time at least through August, with potential to increase to full-time hours closer to the election. Depending on experience, an individual contractor will be paid a monthly salary between $2,400 - $3,400 for half-time; salary will increase by 100% if full time hours are established.
