The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is looking to hire a full-time Health Insurance Accounts Payable Assistant Coordinator. The Assistant Coordinator has the primary responsibility of providing back-up and support to the Contract Medical Care Coordinator in maintaining the accounting system required by the Indian Health Services, Tribal General Account & Tribal Finance Department, whereby payments are affected to contractual healthcare providers for medical services rendered to Tribal patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative

· Become thoroughly familiar with all instructions regarding the use of various authorization forms as delineated within the Indian Health Services Manual.

· Under the supervision of the Contract Medical Care Coordinator assists in regulating the issuance of all purchase orders.

· Upon receipt of an approved patient referral, prepares and submits the appropriate authorization form to the designated provider, along with an estimate of the charges.

· Upon receipt of patient treatment authorization from the healthcare provider, inserts the proper diagnostic codes, method of payment, number of approved visits and provider identification.

· Assists in preparing, completing and submitting an Accounts Payable Voucher to the Finance Department.

· Assists the Contract Medical Care Coordinator in the preparation of reports specifying the current status of CMC Funds for the Health Director.

· Assist in the establishment and maintenance of an up-to-date, comprehensive filing system.

· Perform other CMC related work as required by the CMC Coordinator.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Weekly calls to update referral list.

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

· Must be thoroughly familiar with basic accounting procedures, complex filing practices and systems with knowledge of medical terminology and health systems classifications.

Must be organized, efficient, neat, detail oriented and the ability to maintain and search records is essential.

· Must be able to maintain good working relationships with personnel in a cross-cultural work setting and have good communication and written skills.

· Must maintain strict confidentiality in performing duties

· Must also demonstrate the following personal attributes: honesty, trustworthiness, respectful, flexibility, and possess cultural awareness and sensitivity. Demonstration of sound work ethics is a must.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, ICD 10/CPT Certification preferred, A/P experience preferred, (1) one to (3) three years of experience in bookkeeping/office accounting practices/procedures. Must be willing to travel in association with job-related tasks and training.

Must have and maintain valid Florida Driver’s License.

Drug Screen & Background Check Required.

Job Site: Miccosukee Clinic located on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation; 20 Miles West of Krome Avenue on SW 8th Street
