The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to be based out of White Plains, NY or Stamford, CT offices. This individual will serve a key function in helping our local, municipal clients develop and design Complete Streets projects, sidewalks and bike lanes, linear roadway improvements, drainage improvements and other capital improvements projects to make our roadways safer and more efficient for all road users. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support project management of capital improvement projects for roadway and utility infrastructure in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.
  • Lead/support project management responsibilities including managing discrete tasks, project schedule and budget.
  • Lead and/or support design and production of plans, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Lead and/or support preparation of proposals for pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Provide direction, delegation, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
  • Day-to-day project communication and coordination with clients and other engineers.

Essential Requirements:

  • 5-10 years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Strongly prefer NYS or CT PE (or the ability to obtain the PE licensure within 6-12 months of hire).
  • Experience with Westchester County, Connecticut, and/or local municipalities and agencies preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Knowledge of stormwater modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, AutoCAD SSA, FlowMaster, etc.) preferred
  • Progressively increasing responsibility in project management
  • Working knowledge of roadway design including alignments, grading and drainage, utility relocation, water main, sewer, and MPT
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational ability

Compensation will range from $85K to $120K, and commensurate with experience.
