POSITION PURPOSE:

To maximize hotel’s revenue and profitability by developing the group for group business (market segment assignment may vary by position). Active participation in the hotel’s management team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop business for all markets in the group segment through proactive solicitation (phone calls, outside calls, blitzes, hotel inspections, trade shows, mailing/marketing and creative account penetration strategies).
  • Hotel will provide prospecting software and this tool will be used daily to research market and target new business.
  • Build relationships with all front desk staff at all four Olshan properties to generate leads.
  • Develop quarterly action plans and implement them.
  • Maintain and expand existing user accounts through effective servicing, up selling, and appropriate communication and follow up.
  • Participate in weekly departmental, sales, and staff meetings. Meet monthly and yearly goals.
  • Maintain current information on all marketing programs in which the Hilton participates. Maintain current information on area market trends, competitor rates and clientele, new business in the area, etc.
  • Participate in sales and marketing sessions. Assist Director of Sales in the yearly budget process and action plans.
  • Support and attend hotel receptions and client events. Assist with planning.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Director of Sales and the General Manager based upon the particular requirements of the Hotel.

OTHER:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Upon employment, all Team Members are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Team Members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Ability to supervise, coordinate and motivate the departmental team members.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, often under high pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to perform cold calls, solicit information, negotiate contracts, and close deal
  • Ability to react quickly and decisively to changes in negotiations, time schedules, and market trends.
  • Ability to communicate in grammatically correct English in writing and verbally, telephonically, and face-to-face, with both internal and external guests.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to maintain FDC Delphi. reports, sales goals, budgets and various reports.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand the clients’ needs and present the hotel as the solution.
  • Ability to analyze trends, such as comment card scores, safety accidents/incidents, SALT scores, and turnover to help set applicable policies.
  • Visual ability to read instructions, correspondence, and to make outside visits to existing and potential clients.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching above the shoulders.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with the internal and external guests; some of whom may require patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and to solve their concerns.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge of federal and state regulations to practical situations with the hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of training techniques. Ability to develop and train team members and accomplish goals in a timely manner.
  • Ability to delegate effectively.
  • Ability to translate technical information into layman’s terms.
  • Ability to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use and ability to train new team members in applicable usage of all chemicals in accordance to OSHA laws.
  • Ability to perform duties and to concentrate in a high energy, often noisy, environment.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Payable Systems.
  • Ability to work in a 365-day environment and be on call 24 hours. Must work a minimum of 45 hours/ week.
  • Knowledge of Synergy System.
  • Protect employer’s privacy and data; keep passwords safe.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:


Education: High School graduate. Additional education or experience to meet the required job knowledge, skills, and abilities. College graduate in Sales and Marketing or similar field preferred.


Experience: Entry Level position. Knowledge of Delphi a plus. Good Customer Service Skills, typing skills, and good written and verbal skills. Hospitality Sales background preferred


Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain any government or company required licenses or certificates. Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and TIPS certifications

Grooming: All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Olshan Properties Team Member Handbook.


Other: Additional language ability preferred.
