Job DescriptionJob Description

Divine Mercy Pastorate (includes the parishes of St Mary, Christ the King, and Saint John Paul II) in Sioux Falls is seeking a full-time Communication/Administrative Assistant to provide communications and administrative support to the pastorate. Duties include creating positive and uplifting content that aligns with Divine Mercy's branding standards. Qualified candidates will understand social media and how to best promote events, parishes, and the pastorate while increasing engagement. The successful candidate will take direction from the Director of Communications on all communications initiatives and report directly to the Business Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the creation and design of social media, websites, bulletins, videos, posters, and multimedia presentations.
  • Drafting and editing communications copy and material.
  • Helping to implement internal and external communications strategies and projects.
  • Providing administrative support to internal teams.
  • Preparing presentations and reports.
  • Organizing marketing and networking events.
  • Drafting and posting social media and web content according to the pastorate’s social media strategy.
  • Assisting the communications director with the management of the company's external image.
  • Maintaining calendars and appointments.
  • Tracking projects and media exposure.
  • Updating media contact lists.

Qualifications:

Primary

  • Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position.
  • Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Related experience and familiarization with the communications aspects of the Church.

Other Elements

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in graphic design and editing software like Canva, Photoshop, etc.
  • Elevated level of understanding and working knowledge of social media platforms and strategies, and website design
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative and innovative.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to think strategically, multitask, and conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals while maintaining strict confidentiality.
