Education Program Manager  

St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, St. Louis, MO 

 

The Education Program Manager for the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum is a full-time position responsible for managing the implementation of guided and unguided tours for the Museum and serves as an educator and facilitator as needed.  Functions will include hospitality, issue and emergency response, communications with educators, and ensuring a seamless, engaging, and inclusive experience for all visitors. This position will assist in training a public-facing team while collaborating with internal teams to ensure alignment with the Museum’s overall experiential and educational goals.   

 

As the Education Program Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Education and be responsible for the following:  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Schedules all visitation from school, organization, and public groups. This includes arranging all the engagements they participate in on-site (Exhibition Tour, Hearing from a Speaker, Impact Lab, etc.)
  • Serves as the main educational contact for external groups.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with area teachers and schools, including teacher professional development and related presentations. 
  • In collaboration with the Education Team, assists with the Museum's volunteer corps from training to facilitating tours, Impact Lab sessions, and other volunteer duties.
  • Schedules off-site speaker engagements for Staff and Survivors/Descendants.
  • Books and manages the Museum’s speaker group of Survivors and Descendents, including helping create their presentations. 
  • Coordinates, maintains and promulgates group tour schedule for the benefit of staff and volunteers.
  • Represents the Museum at public events and speaking engagements
  • Assists with Visitor Services, including welcoming groups, leading tours, and facilitating Impact Lab sessions.
  • Effective resolution of visitor issues and incidents in person and via external communication as needed. 
  • Must stay current on all exhibitions, events, and programs at the Museum. 
  • Assists in developing new engagement opportunities for visitors.
  • Assists with serving as the Manager on Duty when needed by Visitor Services, which includes opening and closing the Museum. 
  • Assists with developing, implementing, and responding to visitor evaluations.
  • Flexibility of hours including early morning, late night, weekends, and holidays.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Requirements: 

  • Background in education or history and/or other relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in interpretation and touring techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Willingness to take initiative and work creatively. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • A commitment to the museum's mission, values, and goals. 
  • Ability to pass a background check 

 

Preferred:  

  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of Jira software
  • Knowledge of excel
  • Museum or relevant experience 
  • Background knowledge of the Holocaust 

 

Compensation:  

Compensation, including benefits, is competitive and commensurate with qualifications & experience. Minimum of pay range: $23 per hour.
