You excel in front of customers and possess deep technical experience and understanding. You are creative and driven by innovation. An experienced people manager, you inspire, motivate, mentor and coach while establishing metrics that drive performance. You are comfortable collaborating with and presenting to executive teams, cross functional department heads, and private equity owners to ensure priorities are understood and aligned with the overall company direction.


As a Director of Innovation, you will:

  • Manage a complete team of 7 R&D & technical service professionals. Ensure that the right people are in the right seats to maximize potential.
  • Provide direction, coaching, training and feedback through regular group and 1:1 meetings to foster a productive, fulfilling and harmonious work environment. Challenge and empower the team to grow beyond their comfort zone.
  • Utilize your formulation experience to provide technical guidance and support to the R&D team.
  • Work closely with Applications Scientists to create prototypes and concept formulations.
  • Regularly and proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and future plans.
  • Stay current on the latest industry and consumer insights/trends and marry them with our capabilities to create innovative and actionable product development plans.
  • Foster productive working relationships with cross functional depts, namely Sales, Quality, Operations, Purchasing & Finance to enhance our nimble and fast paced entrepreneurial culture and execute product strategies.
  • Champion usage of the company’s CRM & Project Management system and introduce ideas for improvement based on prior experience and best practices.
  • Oversee the end-to-end product development process, from ideation to commercialization.
  • Set project goals, timelines, and budgets, and ensure successful project execution via measurable KPI’s.
  • Align with and join relevant industry associations to leverage insights, networking, and gain company exposure.
  • Reporting to our CCO, prepare reports, budgets, plans, and clear strategic proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What we are looking for:

  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Chemistry/Food Science/Engineering or similar field.
  • Progressive experience that demonstrates professional growth and achievement with a strong benchtop foundation.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in product development roles in the food/flavor/ingredients, nutrition, or personal care industries, including managing direct reports.
  • Highly organized multitasker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and generally tech savvy.
  • Willing to travel as needed.
  • Position is based in our Springville, UT offices. Open to remote/hybrid for the right candidate.
