EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, On-site


POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer to join the team at Bolling Air Force Base. The Engineer will design, develop, and manage the underlying cloud infrastructure, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking components.


RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Integrate cloud-based systems with existing on-premises infrastructure.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
  • Implement security measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations in the cloud environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt, perform critical thinking and identify solutions for the evolving cloud requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) required.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer/Administrator, specifically with Kubernetes in a production environment.
  • 2-3 years of proven experience as a Cloud Engineer/Administrator, specifically with a Kubernetes certification.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python).
  • 2+ years of experience working in SAP and/or SCI environments.
  • Must possess knowledge of DoD security Cloud requirements.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements with a minimum of two (2) examples of practical application.
  • Experience in designing and implementing security measures for cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technology and virtualization concepts.
  • Familiarity with back up and disaster recovery strategies in virtualized environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with vSphere for the next integration of the cloud migration.
  • Experience with VMware and SQL
  • Experience in troubleshooting Cloud and application incidents, identifying root causes, define and resolve issues, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Understand the software development lifecycle.
  • Provided guidance and training on cloud competencies and best practices.
  • Desired Certifications:
  • Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA).
  • Industry verified cloud engineering certificates (ex. CCSP, CompTIA Cloud+, SWA Certified, etc.)
  • Hyper-V or VM Certified Professional.
