Job Description:
Markon Solutions is seeking a skilled Cloud Solutions Engineer to assist our Intelligence Customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on optimal methods for securely configuring both new and existing Cloud services within the client's environment.
  • Establish guidelines for identifying and alerting on Cloud misconfigurations.
  • Engage with Cloud service providers such as Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, and Google to evaluate the security features of their offerings.
  • Assess and recommend Cloud resource and identity policies to improve security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Create Cloud configurations to be hosted on GITHUB, accessible for project teams utilizing Terraform or native cloud vendor scripting services.
  • Consult with clients on the most effective strategies for securely configuring Cloud services across various vendors.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute testing on Cloud services/technologies to secure systems and mitigate cyber risks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify specifications, requirements, and performance metrics, leveraging engineering expertise to document use cases for mission partners and work with service providers to ensure solutions meet operational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse business partners and clients.
  • Analyze client requirements and provide innovative technical expertise on cloud computing methodologies and architectures.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and risks associated with Cloud misconfigurations, especially for systems handling highly sensitive data.
  • Define and update Cloud security standards and requirements to minimize risks related to Cloud misconfigurations.
  • Assist in establishing a framework for monitoring compliance with specific Cloud security standards for systems in the Cloud.
  • Develop scripts, Terraform files, and/or Cloud Development Kits (CDK) to provide project teams with automated tools for implementing and validating Cloud configuration standards.
  • Review and analyze Cloud configuration compliance data to inform risk remediation and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies as assigned.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to less experienced cloud development personnel.
  • May lead tasks or projects (not in a managerial capacity).
  • May consult with executives and clients to deliver complex cloud development solutions.

Qualifications:

Experience: 15+ years in related fields.

Education: Technical training, certifications, or degrees in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience with Cloud service vendors (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and/or Oracle).
  • Experience with enterprise cybersecurity management platforms.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering and deploying IT capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively triage and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Proven judgment and problem-solving skills necessary for making recommendations to client management.
  • Working knowledge of information security policies and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in cloud technology.
  • Capacity to build effective interpersonal relationships; strong analytical and organizational skills; self-motivated; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with implementing and assessing security controls that support authorization and accreditation processes.
  • Experience supporting the NIST Risk Management Framework.
  • Project management experience.
  • Recommended certifications: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, CCSP, CCSK, CISSP.
