Position Overview:

The O&M/DeRe/C&I salesperson is primarily responsible for securing recurring Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts (preventative maintenance, monitoring, major repairs) for commercial & industrial, non-profit, municipal, and community solar garden solar PV projects, sales of commercial scale de-installation/re-installation (De-Re) projects, as well as commercial & industrial (C&I) EPC sales within the service territory of the front range of Colorado. This role is expected to manage inbound O&M and De-Re leads, undertake business development activities to cultivate new O&M and De-Re leads, focus on establishing relationships with solar PV system owners such as: commercial entities, municipal/local government agencies, non-profits, project developers, and project financiers, and to handle a small volume of C&I EPC sales leads. This role will develop sales quotes and proposals for O&M, De-Re, and C&I EPC clients, develop RFP responses, make sales presentations to prospective clients and provide O&M sales support for the Commercial Sales team and for the O&M operations teams for bidding major repairs.


Minimal travel will be required.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Development of commercial/industrial and small utility solar PV O&M, De-Re, and C&I EPC contracts with a focus on the front range Colorado,
  • Develop and manage business partnerships with key commercial solar PV system owners,
  • Meet with new potential clients including commercial entities, municipal and government agencies, non-profits, project developers, project financiers and banking institutions, etc.,
  • Develop and manage an O&M, De-Re sales, and C&I EPC pipeline,

Essential Functions (Specific Tasks/Deliverables)

  • Work in conjunction with Director of Commercial Business Development to execute sales strategy,
  • Prospect for and qualify leads,
  • Record customer information in CRM,
  • Public speaking and presentations to prospective clients,
  • Manage multiple client relationships in various stages of development,
  • Conduct initial client meetings and consultations,
  • Collaborate with O&M operations team to review non-standard scopes,
  • Develop O&M, De-Re sales, and C&I EPC quotes and proposals,
  • Provide O&M sales support to Commercial Sales team,
  • Communicate proposal & contract details to the customer,
  • Negotiate and execute O&M, De-Re, C&I EPC contracts,
  • Coordinate internal project hand-off meetings upon contract execution,
  • Coordinate external project kick-off meetings with client,
  • Collect relevant system documentation,
  • Attend team meetings,
  • Attend industry relevant trade shows and conferences

Standards & Expectations:

  • Perform customer prospecting activities weekly,
  • Professionally represent the company to key clients,
  • Effectively maintain long-term relationships,
  • Develop proposals to meet customer expectations,
  • Communicate with customers promptly after initial customer inquiry,
  • Maintain sales pipeline information in CRM database,
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with O&M and Commercial EPC Operations teams

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong relationship management skills,
  • Advanced understanding of commercial PV systems,
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to set clear expectations,
  • General construction understandings, i.e., ability to read, understand electrical and structural plans - reading/interpreting blueprints, & field layouts,
  • Highly organized & have ability to multi-task and set priorities,
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization,
  • Proficient with computers and the following applications: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word

Non-essential (Valued but not required skills & experience)

  • NABCEP/COSEIA certification
  • Solar PV O&M experience

Primary positions interacting with this position:

VP of Commercial, Senior Director of Commercial Business Development, Director of Commercial Sales, Commercial Sales Team, O&M Operations Team.


Work environment:

  • Work environment: The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. Work environment is in office and out at project sites. Frequent driving required. The daily temperature varies from hot to cold depending on the season.
