Indianapolis, INResponsibilitiesRole Overview
- Researching and resolving denied, unpaid, and underpaid insurance claims
- File appeals as needed to resolve denials, collaborate with payers and monitor appeals in the process
- Properly track and document all denial and appeal activity
- Check insurance payments for accuracy
- Conduct outbound calls to insurance to gather information for claims
- Access payer online portals to resolve denials
- Send medical records to insurance companies
- Maintain all logs, account notes, and system records as assigned
- Help identify issues from denials and appeals that might be avoided on future claims
- Maintain working knowledge of all payer guidelines and requirements as they relate to denials and appeals
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two years of related experience in denials is required (successful candidates have come from similar backgrounds such as billing assistants, claims processors, and similar titles)
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines, specifically commercials and Medicaid across states is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to changing
- deadlines and priorities
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to operate a 10-key, and computers (laptops)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Possesses an initiative-taking, service-oriented attitude
- Must be comfortable with daily commute to Office
