Key Qualifications

  • Proof semi-monthly timesheet entries for completeness in coding and process payroll.
  • Understanding of laws and regulations affecting payroll practices, including California-specific compliance
  • Update payroll for any changes in employee deductions and create new employee records in payroll.
  • Prepare reports as needed.
  • Provide support to People and Culture partners’ inquiries on payroll regulations, processes and specific matter on employees’ queries
  • Provide payroll metrics on quarterly basis

Description


We are seeking a committed and dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our People and Culture team. The successful candidate will specialize primarily for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll functions and employee data using Paylocity. The Payroll Specialist is the primary contact for all payroll inquiries and requires exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, excellent customer service support, and the ability to troubleshoot technology issues. The successful candidate will respond to frequent and urgent requests for information about payroll, tax, vacation and sick time, report generation, general ledger, and other general payroll policy matters. In addition, you must have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.


Pay & Benefits


At Janus, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $32.00 and $35.00 hourly and your base pay will be considered on your job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • 2-4 years of previous payroll experience in a nonprofit payroll and/or human resources setting
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail with multiple forms of filing and categorizing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to interact with and relate to a wide range of individuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Microsoft office suite and PC skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in the field of chemical dependency treatment/medical preferred
  • Formalized training in California payroll compliance/laws
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience
