Hudson Table is a culinary studio and event space in Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY. We provide unique culinary experiences to our guests; whether they are taking a hands-on cooking class, attending our popular chef competitions, or enjoying a catered event in our open-kitchens.

We are looking for Experienced Cooks to join our growing team
Our Kitchen Assistants should be enrolled in a professional Culinary Arts program, or have graduated from a Culinary Arts Program. This can be a great entry level job into the culinary world, or for the more advanced cooks we can offer opportunities to be Sous Chef's in our Iron Chef Style Competitions.

The role as a Kitchen Assistant is a blend of back of house and front of house operations, and is a unique opportunity to work in the culinary world where BOH is treated equally as the FOH.

Compensation: Hourly Wage is $17--$18 per hour plus guaranteed tips

Flexible work schedule
**Must be available for evenings and some weekend shifts.**

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Showing up on time, being reliable, and communicative
  • Ability to set up the kitchen with proper equipment for hands-on cooking classes, and events
  • Ability to prepare mise en place for classes
  • Review class recipes and lesson plans to be prepared for class and engage with our guests
  • During class, assist the Chef to ensure our guests have a positive experience
  • Answering questions for guests on equipment, processes, recipes, and knowing when to defer to the Chef
  • Make sure the kitchen and prep areas remain clean: remove dirty dishes and used equipment as the class or event progresses, cleaning any spills or messes quickly
  • Return clean dishes, tools and equipment to the designated storage areas in the classroom / kitchen after being washed
  • Breakdown of the kitchen ensuring all equipment, stove tops, oven doors, and knives are properly cleaned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Chef Instructor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Culinary Arts Degree from an accredited program
  • Desired 1 2 years of experience in the food industry, will consider enrolled culinary students
  • Must have an understanding of food preparation, kitchen safety, and kitchen sanitation
  • Ability to multi-task, and work cleanly
  • Ability to lift up to 30#
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Must be able to deliver a good customer experience, this is a customer facing position
