We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Sous Chef who embodies our culinary vision. The ideal candidate possesses a deep enthusiasm for gastronomy and is eager to broaden their culinary expertise. The Sous Chef will be entrusted with comprehensive responsibilities, including leading, mentoring, and managing kitchen staff under the direction of the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine. The role emphasizes exceeding guest satisfaction while collaborating effectively with fellow Sous Chefs.

Culinary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily activities of line cooks and prep cooks, ensuring they are well-prepared
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas in compliance with safety and health regulations
  • Conduct taste tests of prepared items to guarantee flavor and quality
  • Lead a designated station, ensuring proper preparation and presentation of dishes
  • Coordinate with the dining room and kitchen staff to ensure timely service of all courses
  • Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and support staff to uphold equipment and facility standards
  • Manage documentation related to health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance

Staffing Duties:

  • Assist in the recruitment process for kitchen personnel as necessary
  • Proactively identify and onboard new kitchen team members to support restaurant growth
  • Supervise line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashing teams, fostering their development through training and mentorship

Menu Innovation:

  • Support the Chef de Cuisine in creating new menu items
  • Assist in recipe development and cost analysis for menu offerings
  • Explore and implement new cooking techniques as required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a culinary setting
  • Possession of a valid Food Handler's Certificate
  • Advanced knife skills and culinary techniques
  • Ability to interpret and follow recipes and culinary standards
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Capability to mentor and guide team members
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Experience with diverse cooking styles and methods
  • Quick decision-making skills in a dynamic environment
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods
