Job Summary

Build and lead the Manufacturing and Supply Chain team responsible for the manufacture of advanced aerospace aftermarket parts, in collaboration with internal and external vendors. The team will be comprised of manufacturing, quality and supply chain experts, and work closely together with the Product Engineering team. The responsibilities include assessing and approving special processes, and developing a capable vendor base. Close collaboration with the FAA will be expected to understand critical process and quality requirements, and demonstrate compliance to obtain FAA approval. This might include testing to validate the part design, including demonstration of potential performance improvements, working with a DER.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build first-rate team of experienced manufacturing, quality and supply chain engineers and experts to drive the development of advanced aerospace aftermarket parts.
  • Coordinate material qualification, process and manufacturing activities closely with Product Engineering, supply chain, FAA, and DER, to meet parts design intent, process and quality requirements.
  • Support Intellectual Property diligence for aftermarket parts, led by legal.
  • Develop and secure adequate supply chain and partnerships to meet supply volume per demand and forecast plan, and ensure robust manufacturing quality.
  • Actively support any qualification requests from FAA to obtain final parts approval, and work closely with the DER.
  • Manage and provide direction to the Manufacturing and Supply Chain group to meet technical and operational objectives. Conduct regular team meetings with direct reports to monitor and report on key performance metrics.
  • Review and approve specifications, work instruction, and process approval documents owned by the Manufacturing and Supply Chain team.
  • Lead or participate in root cause / corrective action projects.
  • Support yearly CAPEX and R&D investment plans, a resource strategy and hiring plans, supported by business cases.
  • Mentor team members and conduct performance reviews of direct reports in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Skills/Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in advanced aerospace hot section airfoil design, materials and manufacturing processes
  • 10+ years of applicable experience in the aerospace industry or related manufacturing/repair environment
  • 8+ years of team leadership or project management experience
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of jet engine materials and processing
  • Understanding of jet engine airfoil component design and operation
  • Understanding of technical drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T), industrial and material specifications
  • Experience working with external supply chain, including advanced casting, machining and coating vendors (domestic and international)
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a demonstrated ability to handle multiple issues in a responsive and decisive manner
  • Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames
  • Proficiency with MS office Professional (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Process and Team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce
  • Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable
  • Willing and able to travel as required
