We are seeking a skilled and experienced Line Cook to join our Blue Door Kitchen at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County. Our Blue Door Kitchen makes a profound impact on the youth we serve everyday by serving high quality, nutritious, hot meals from scratch.


As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for our youth. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards and meet the nutritional needs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to the menu and dietary requirements
  • Prepares raw ingredients for addition to recipes
  • Estimate expected food consumption
  • Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
  • Maintains food preparation and storage areas to meet health and safety standards
  • Cleans and breaks down kitchen station after service
  • Stocking inventory and supplies as required
  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline
  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required
Requirements:

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a line cook or similar roles
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Experience understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
  • Certified in Food Safety with the State of Texas or ability to pass Certification

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to work program hours
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Must be able to obtain Food Handler certification
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal culinary training or equivalent
  • USDA food program experience
  • Bilingual
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club)

Pay & Benefits:

  • Minimum starting Pay: $16.50 per hour (non-exempt; full-time)
  • Benefits: Medical Insurance, Flex Spending Account, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement with 5% match, Holiday, PTO and work/life balance.
