General Summary:

The Director of Technical Operations is responsible for managing a scalable field operations install and repair business unit. Primary objectives for this role are to drive customer satisfaction, maximize operational efficiency through process implementation, accountability to key metrics, and a focus on continuous improvement. This role will also be responsible for supporting Company initiatives regarding revenue attainment through order fulfillment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Leads a team of field technicians and supervisors responsible for the installation and repair of services and the maintenance of outside network cabling and equipment;
  • Manages the business unit founded on scalable business practices, maximizing efficiency, and improving the customer experience;
  • Manages the creation, communication, and evolution of business processes and procedures;
  • Responsible for managing operating and capital expenses for the business unit;
  • Provides leadership for support and implementation of new products, services, and technologies;
  • Develops effective leaders that can be ensure the goals for the business unit are met;
  • Supports team leaders through creating and maintaining employee development plans and training initiatives;
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement;
  • Travels to customer sites, project areas, business related events, and other Ritter Communications locations as required.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the VP, Field Operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership ability to create change and further develop leaders;
  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry or previous operations management;
  • Knowledge of management practices and procedures;
  • Skill in oral and written communication with particular emphasis on ability to interface within all areas of the organization;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite;
  • Ability to identify key datasets and make decisions supported by available information;
  • Ability to manage operating and capital expense budgets;
  • Ability to develop on scalable business processes, key departmental metrics, and project plans;
  • Ability to serve as internal and external escalation point for mutual party satisfaction;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to travel for business requirements; must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, operations management, or relevant technical field or an equivalent amount of education and experience. Five to seven years of experience in providing leadership to other leaders is preferred.
