Position: Part-time Billing Specialist (Medicaid)


Definition of Position: The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing all Medicaid claims. Responsible for follow-up and collections on accounts, maintaining accurate patient reimbursement data, and ensuring compliance with regulations and Community Hospice billing procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities:

- Processes all Medicaid claims.

- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of reimbursement and billing procedures.

- Assists with and follows up on Medicaid pending applications.

- Responsible for following up on Medicaid denials and collections on accounts.

- Ensures billing is performed timely and accurately.

- Reviews A/R Aging report monthly to ensure aging accounts are collectable.

- Monitors accounts receivable, maintains aging of accounts within agency goals.

- Ensures collections on accounts are routinely performed, and denials are monitored and reviewed.

- Verifies nursing home billing rates, and ensures patient liabilities are accurate.

- Other duties as assigned.


Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 20 per week

Requirements:

Qualifications:

- College degree or Degree of Certification in Medical Coding (preferred).

- Prior knowledge and experience with Medicaid billing procedures is required; 3 years of experience (preferred).

- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

- Knowledge and understanding of modern office practices and procedures.

- Must demonstrate effective communication skills.

- Must be able to work independent of direct supervision.

- Must be able to pass a Driving Records Check, Criminal Background Check, and a Pre-Employment Drug Screen.
