Position Summary
The Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding individuals on their path to recovery, collaborating closely with the Peer Recovery Support Program Manager. This position is essential in providing encouragement, assistance, and direction through a community-focused approach. Recovery Support Specialists utilize a Two-Generation strategy to bolster protective factors and enhance adult capabilities. By drawing on their personal experiences, they empower individuals to initiate positive transformations and navigate substance use challenges. By fostering a nurturing community atmosphere, Recovery Support Specialists facilitate the sharing of experiences and support individuals in pursuing recovery through diverse pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients in connecting with essential resources such as healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities.
- Guide individuals in crafting tailored recovery plans.
- Educate clients on topics related to substance use, mental health, and overall wellness.
- Support clients in executing strategies to prevent relapse.
- Work collaboratively with the team to address the needs of individuals and families.
- Ensure accurate documentation for billing and data management.
- Engage in community initiatives that promote recovery and family support.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with community resources available for individuals and families.
- Strong organizational skills for managing files and data entry.
- Understanding of addiction recovery techniques and the Strengthening FamiliesTM framework.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Completion of foundational Motivational Interviewing training.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional credentials related to the position, including personal recovery experience.
