Job Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator assists in the recruitment, engagement, and recognition of volunteers, at Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity (GRHFH).
This position works to build relationships in the community to grow the overall volunteer base and advance individual and group partnerships while assisting with all aspects of volunteer coordination, including orientation, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up opportunities in construction, office work, ReStore, deconstruction, family services, special events and other needs that may arise.
The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the linchpin between Habitat's mission and individuals seeking personal growth and community impact. Their efforts will contribute significantly to GRHFH's mission of constructing homes, fostering communities, and nurturing hope within the Greater Rochester area.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recruit and schedule volunteers for the Habitat ReStores, family services department, office work, and special events opportunities.
- Provide secondary support to Volunteer & Workforce Development Manager with construction volunteers.
- Maintain various volunteer schedules and communicate updates to all assigned individual volunteers and volunteer groups.
- Work with Restore Managers to coordinate and schedule volunteers from various groups including regular volunteers, homebuyers, community service volunteers, ad-hoc volunteers and community groups.
- Train new and monitor existing office, warehouse, and cabinet shop volunteers.
- Maintain and improve volunteer database, updating volunteer contact information, interests, skills, and availability.
- Meet and speak with priority volunteer groups at work sites to provide orientation, show appreciation for their time, and to take photos.
- Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking, sex offender background checks, and general follow-up.
- Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management, and recognition tools.
- Monitor all email correspondences as they relate to volunteering.
- Coordinate all Remploy volunteers.
- Track volunteer hours for specific volunteer groups including those involved with Kitchen Deconstruction program.
- Develop strong relationships with all Restore Staff and volunteers.
- Assist Communications Manager by providing regular photos, video, and volunteer stories.
- Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

- Must possess a Valid New York State Driver’s License and clean, insurable driving record, required
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or better preferred
- Experience working with volunteers preferred
- Experience in coordination and scheduling preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- This position will start most days at the construction sites and then they will travel to the GRHFH office for the remainder of the day
- Daily travel will be required for this position and reliable transportation is required. Approved work-related mileage, beyond commuting to and from home, will be reimbursed per the affiliate’s policy
- Must be able to frequently communicate in English (verbal), working as part of a team and supporting staff and volunteers.
