CPI Security is a market leading provider of home and small business security systems and services. CPI has been in business for over 30 years and serves over 200,000 customers across a large area of the Southeastern US to include all North and South Carolina.

Position Summary:

Having built most of our success in the residential security market, CPI intends to expand its efforts in the commercial market space. Already a strong provider of small business security services, the company seeks an experienced VP of Commercial Sales & Business Development leader who can expand and drive growth across the entire small and medium business (SMB), market as well as several select vertical markets. This is a senior level executive role with responsibility for the entire Commercial sales organization across the CPI footprint. The role is based in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible overall top line commercial revenue and associated profitability and cash flow.
  • Own the business plan to address CPI's targeted commercial markets.
    • Small businesses.
    • Core commercial, mid-market.
    • Select Regional Accounts or Regional work for select national accounts.
    • Vertical markets (K-12, higher education, municipal, congregational, etc.)
    • Support strategy and lead staffing for CPI's entry into SAAS services.
  • Work with marketing and sales operations to establish the size of the market opportunity for the above in each geographic area served.
  • Work with the Executive Committee to establish aggressive but realistic production targets and associated margin and cashflow targets.
  • Continuously iterate on and improve upon sales processes.
  • Lead the development of the entire commercial organization
    • Evaluate existing Commercial leaders and sales associates
    • Align this talent in the most optimal fashion
    • Work with HR business partners to recruit and staff agreed roles as appropriate.
  • Be a highly visible leader
    • Walk the walk and lead by example to the commercial sales team.
    • Be a role model, gain and maintain the respect of the broader organization.
    • Assist the CEO and other senior executives in representing the company in the community
  • Work closely with the Solutions, GSM and Operations teams, to ensure we maintain the most relevant and profitable offerings that will appeal to our customers.
    • Be a part of the relationship management process with key technology partners.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how the commercial sales team contributes to the bottom line.
  • Ability to influence and successfully work as a team player with numerous other functions such as sales operations, solutions management, marketing, finance, HR and field operations.
  • Ability to convey solutions benefits of complex technology to prospects, customers, and employees in layman's terms.
  • Knowledge and understanding of security system industry, products, services, and technology.
  • Proven expert level communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong collaboration, delegation, and motivation skills.
  • Operates with high levels of integrity in all aspects of the role.

Other Experience Required

  • 10+ years of commercial sales and sales management experience working for a regional or national security systems provider
  • Experience with estimating, design and proposal processes for integrated solutions as well as basic packages.
  • Experience leading a similarly sized organization to include numerous managers or directors.
  • Experience working in a multi-location and functional matrix organization is required.
  • Experience managing the needs and complexities of multi-location regional and national accounts.
  • Demonstrated success as an organizational leader who can outline a "from – to" story of their achievements.
  • Must be results driven with a documented record of success.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced high transaction volume subscriber-based business environment.
