Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, the Recovery Support Specialist serves as part of the Behavioral Health Team to help establish rapport, share experiences, and strengthen engagement with children and adults experiencing complex mental health and social needs. The individual in this role will provide clients with resourceful information and support in various settings. The Recovery Support Specialist will model competence to their clients, through their own personal experiences, in successful self-recovery. Provides follow-up support to all clients encountered through the program and education to community stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Utilize lived experience to build rapport with clients needing Behavioral Health services.
  2. Assist with creating a crisis recovery plan.
  3. Engage family, as needed, to educate them about self-care and how to provide support to loved ones.
  4. With team members, respond immediately to screen an individual's needs and assist the individual in receiving the appropriate level of care.
  5. Communicate effectively within a team environment to meet the needs of those experiencing behavioral health crises
  6. Provide brief therapeutic interventions as follow-up support to all who have engaged with our Behavioral Health team.
  7. Complete screenings, assessments, and other necessary clinical documentation.
  8. Maintain compliance with COA and other regulatory agency requirements.
  9. Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  10. Assist individuals in becoming involved in their own mental health and / or substance abuse recovery process so they might develop personalized action plans for their own mental, emotional, physical, and social health.
  11. Work across departments to collaborate on suicide prevention practices
  12. Conduct outreach and community engagement to educate community members about recovery and services offered at Hoyleton.
  13. Completes other duties as assigned.

  5. Must possess the knowledge, personal qualities, and practice skills to work effectively with professionals in other organizations and disciplines and to provide services that reflect understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. Must have personal lived experience.
  2. High School Diploma, GED, or higher education
  3. Have or obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist status within one year of hire.
  4. The ability and willingness to actively participate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  5. Previous mobile crisis response experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  3. Must possess and maintain proof of vehicle insurance

CARE & TCI

One of the essential job functions of any position within the agency is to align your performance with our overarching philosophy of CARE. All decisions, actions, communication, and performance should align with the six CARE principles (Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed). Not only must you complete the CARE training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.

Every employee must also pass TCI training with a satisfactory grade in written and/or physical testing. All employees must remain current on refresher training that is provided monthly at all locations. You will be tested every 6 months on the physical portion, if applicable to your position. You will be tested annually on the written portion, regardless of your position. If you are not current on your TCI refresher training every six months, you will be required to retake the full course. If you do not pass either test, you may be required to retake the full course. Not only must you complete the TCI training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.
