Special Education Teacher - FT - Bethesda Therapeutic Classroom

Position Overview: The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to service students in the Bethesda Therapeutic Classroom. These teachers provide Special Education services for students K-6 in School Aged class settings.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week over a 187-work day per school year.

    • Bachelor's $62,640
    • Master's $64,781
    • Master's +15 $66,195
    • Master's +30 $67,907
  • 187 work days per year
  • 10 paid sick days, 3 Personal Days, 2 Emergency Days
  • Full Medical-PPO, Dental, Prescription, and Vision Coverage for Employee and Dependents on hire date. ($75.00/ month premium+ deductible)
  • Required minimum 8.5% contribution to Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS).

Required Qualifications:

- Certification in Special Education PK-8 or PK-12

Desired Qualifications:

- Certification in regular education

- Prior experience working with EI students

- Experience utilizing Positive Behavior Supports

- Knowledge of various disability categories (i.e. Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language)

Essential Functions:

- Developing lessons and teaching children in classrooms

- Conducting evaluations to determine eligibility for services

- Writing Evaluation Reports and Individualized Education Plans for students

- Providing services as determined through the IEP process

- Inputting data utilizing the PELICAN system
