Job DescriptionJob Description

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Working with vendors to obtain new material samples and collaborate with lab technicians to evaluate for benefits and improvements.
  • Reviewing technical reports, submitting samples to outside agencies for certification, preparing proposals for updated or new materials and products.
  • Prepare outlines and time lines for research and development projects, prepare monthly status reports on active projects, manage multi-stage projects so that all projects finish in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update company formulations and specification records; evaluate plant update requests to ensure all company or regulatory requirements are met.
  • Plan, request, monitor and evaluate short-term extrusion trials, prepare test specimens from trial samples using saws and routers.
  • Prepare PVC/HDPE compounds using laboratory mixer two-roll mill, press, etc.
  • Produce and test specimens using appropriate test apparatus such as Izod impact, tensile test systems, FTIR, DSC, melt indexer, etc. to conform with but not limited to ASTM, NSF and UL Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree (B.S) in Material Science, Chemistry, or other area of the Natural Sciences.
  • Other Technical degrees and / or appropriate combination of education and technical training and experience may be considered.
