ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are currently looking for a Permit and Traffic Control Coordinator.

 

Permit and traffic control coordinators are responsible for managing and coordinating traffic control plans. Ensures projects stay on track by lining up State and City permits required for the project and expediting the permit process. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in traffic control process and locate ticket process, they will be energetic, positive, proactive, willing to learn and grow with the company, and overall be a team player.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Submits Locate tickets.
  • Conduct initial field inspections and surveys.
  • Gathers permit information from Project Manager, Project Plans, Site Visits and/or Geographic information system/ Google Earth
  • Coordinates permit as required with other departments and divisions within the department.
  • Assures timeliness by managing and monitoring permits throughout the entire permit cycle.
  • Reviews policies, procedures, regulations, reports and legislations to determine permit handling.
  • Continuously updates permit logs.
  • Creates traffic control plans on Rapid Plan Software.
  • Coordinates and submits traffic control plans for approval to local agencies.
  • Updates approved traffic control plans.
  • Studies traffic delays by noting times of delays, the numbers of vehicles affected, and vehicle speed through the delay area.
  • Prepares graphs, charts, diagrams, or other aids to illustrate observations or conclusions.
  • Analyze data related to traffic flow, accident rates, or proposed development to determine the most efficient methods to expedite traffic.

 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in construction permitting is preferred.
  • Computer competency for data entry and the production of reports.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Rapid Plans software knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of traffic control rules and regulations
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings.

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn is required.
  • Able to prioritize on short notice and manage interruptions.
  • Ability to coordinate workloads with your supervisor.
  • Exhibit effective communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.


Education, Training and Experience

  • Must have a High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow instructions in both English/Spanish.
  • 2 – 3yrs. previous experience working with locate and permit processes.
  • May substitute experience for years of education.
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience.


Physical Requirements:

  • Office/On-site
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone.
  • Mobility to work in a typical office setting.


Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work, must have a valid driver's license at time of application.
