Join Our Team as a Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist

Are you detail-oriented with a knack for numbers? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy ensuring accuracy in financial processes? Lutheran Child and Family Services (LCFS) is looking for a skilled Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management:

  • Ensure timely processing of bi-weekly payroll
  • Review time records and make necessary corrections
  • Process pay adjustments, withholdings, and garnishments accurately
  • Monitor PTO calculations and balances
  • Prepare and enter payroll journal entries
  • Handle benefit program paperwork
  • Generate required timeclock and payroll reports

Accounts Payable:

  • Process purchase requests with proper approvals and documentation
  • Manage recurring monthly bills
  • Accurately code, enter, and describe expenses
  • Process weekly AP checks and manage ACH payments
  • Maintain petty cash and perform reconciliations

Accounts Receivable:

  • Properly code and enter ACH deposits, including credit card gifts
  • Produce weekly cash reports

Month-End Close:

  • Create and enter journal entries, including accruals, reversals, and prepaids
  • Review accounting software entries and download bank statements
  • Manage depreciation and asset reconciliations

Employee Onboarding:

  • Assist HR with payroll system maintenance
  • Train employees on timeclock usage

General Accounting Tasks:

  • Support AP, AR, and JV entry as needed
  • Assist with audit preparation and new software implementations

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed
  • Exceptional organizational abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database management
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with MIP accounting software preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Working Environment:
