ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

·      Position requires servicing a portfolio of multifamily housing (50 units and above) and single family housing with AFB products and services. Key skills include measuring floor coverings, basic diagraming, electronic data management, and customer service.

·      Identify and qualify strong pipeline of strategic relationships with new and existing customers. These customers may occupy positions in all levels of the customers’ business, including executive, regional, and on-site staff.

·      Demonstrate the ability to build market share through consultative selling techniques.

·      Demonstrate the ability to gather and submit detailed business information for pricing and proposal purposes to AFB management and administration team.

·      Initiate, coordinate, and maintain contact with customers to begin developing new business opportunities through cold calling, joint sales calls, meetings, presentations, and other introductory methods.

·      Develop and recommend pricing proposals for consideration to AFB VP of Sales for launch to customers.

·      Demonstrate aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.

·      Maintain an in-depth understanding of AFB’s product and service offerings, including the AFB Platform, and clearly communicate these to customers to inform and enhance our reputation in the market.

·      Maintain an in-depth understanding of the competitive marketplace, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies that diminish competitors’ strengths and expose their weaknesses.

·      Communicate and update AFB management on the status of prospecting, presentations and negotiations, and establish critical timeframes, expectations, forecasts, and other metrics of progress.

·      Keep current and prospective client database updated.

·      Provide information to assist with and develop brochures and other marketing literature, including website and social media content.

·      Attend trade shows, conferences, and training programs relevant to the flooring industry, as well as those relevant to our customers’ industry, to understand emerging technologies and trends that may add value in business development strategies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position is based out of the Sales Representative’s home office or shared company office space.


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the Sales Representative must be available during the “core” work hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Must be willing to occasionally work extended hours, including evening client events.


TRAVEL: Travel is primarily local during the business day.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Sales/Marketing or Business preferred.  Product knowledge in floor coverings preferred. Skills in measuring floor coverings accurately with the ability to apply in a basic formatted layout is desirable.
