Direct Autism Support Coach - Northampton, MA

Program/Job Type: Agency With Choice, Per-Diem

Location: West Chesterfield, Northampton, and Hadley

Summary of Position:

Pathlight is an organization that has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities in Western Massachusetts communities since 1952. The person hired for this position would perform a variety of home and/or community based direct care duties with our Agency with Choice program to support a young woman with Autism and to promote the individual's dignity, safety, health, welfare, rights, development and social inclusion. They will also provide transportation to this individual

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage, assist, instruct, motivate and monitor young woman with social/recreational and skill building activities. Model appropriate behavior in social situations and assist in development of independence skills.

  • Confer with the supervisor and other service team members about goals, implementation and other related questions, concerns, or problems.

  • Apply Pathlight and program policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of crisis, emergency, health and safety, individual rights and preventing and reporting abuse. Ensure confidentiality regarding all information shared concerning the individual, family, care providers.

  • Complete related records as required and instructed by contract or supervisor per standard format ensuring confidentiality and safe-keeping of documents.

  • Accompany individual to recreational activities and other planned events as requested, to include providing transportation (may be adjusted as needed for safety during COVID-19). Inform supervisor of activities carried out, and any needs. Maintain professional boundaries.

  • Submit weekly time sheets with summaries of activities in a timely manner. Submit timely and accurate mileage reimbursement requests. Participate in periodic meetings regarding the young woman's progress, and carry out changes as recommended.

  • Attend and participate in program and related meetings or required training as directed. Perform other similar and related duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years working with children/adults with autism

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires valid driver's license and reliable transportation/vehicle.

Job Type: Per-Diem

Pay: $18.00 per Hour
