Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Functional Homeroom Section Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will support the Vehicle Engineering directorate in Palmdale, CA on a 9/80 shift (every other Friday off).
 
Job Summary:

The Section Manager will be responsible for approximately 15 staff members. This position is over a cross functional engineering team. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading all managerial tasks relevant to this Vehicle Engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership role encompassing both functional management (approx. 20%) and technical performance (approx. 80%) on a specific program. Functional home room support will be focused on recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, weekly team meetings, bi-weekly 1:1 meetings, and holding performance review discussions.  Technical program support will be focused on the structural analysis engineering discipline, as directed by the Vehicle Engineering program IPT Lead.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution and 9 years of relevant professional/military experience; OR Master of Science degree from an accredited institution in a relevant STEM discipline and 7 years of relevant professional/military experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in the field of structural analysis

  • Experience in a technical leadership/management role

  • Must have an Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or an Advanced Degree in Aerospace, Civil, and/or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience with BTP development, applicable notes, BOM, sign-off process.

  • Experience with CPLM, Teamcenter, CATIA, NX-CAD, and/or similar CAD packages

  • Experience with Staffing Forecasting

  • Experience leading an engineering team within a fast-paced, manufacturing environment

  • Experience with manufacturing and/or flight test processes.

  • Experience working Special Access Programs

  • Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
