The Health, Safey & Environment Specialist provides direct technical safety and occupational health services for the Facilities and Services organization. This position will involve personal interaction with both professional and technical employees to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations along with company requirements pertaining to OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NRC, DOT, and EPA. This position will also include an occasional Ergonomic focus.

Responsibilities May Include:
  • Developing and implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and procedures to ensure compliance with company policy, regulatory compliance, safe operations, and prevention of undesired consequences.
  • Preparing technical documentation, consulting with agencies and contractors, and supporting operations/field personnel in regulatory and policy compliance.
  • Participating in incident investigations, field audits, and other incident causation and prevention activities.
  • Participating in emergency planning and response activities.
  • Supporting the Contractor Safety Program.
  • Reviewing permitting process, including hot work, confined space, and excavation.
  • Developing and participating in the Facility's safety awareness programs.
  • Preparing and submitting internal and external reports and related documentation.
  • Interfacing and coordinating information between internal/external entities, with varying perspectives and interests.
  • Developing and delivering general and specialized training for regulatory compliance and topic-specific training, including formal presentations to both small and large groups.
  • Evaluating hazards, exposures, and general impacts associated with the operation of process equipment, facilities, and projects.
  • Supporting the Behavior-Based Safety Programs.
  • Conducting Industrial Hygiene planning and monitoring per the Exposure Assessment Plan.

Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Hold and maintain a valid US driver's license
  • 3 or more years of experience as a safety professional in facilities, petroleum, or chemical industries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Fire Protection, Industrial Hygiene or related field
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments , and proactively manage time
  • Experience with the coordination of Risk Assessments
  • An understanding of the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program
  • Effective skills in facilitating networks and teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate and train personnel
  • Able to solve a broad range of complex problems
  • Experience working with health and safety regulations
  • Experience investigating, documenting, and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology
  • Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk, and suggest an appropriate mitigation plan
  • Has leadership abilities, delivers on commitments, able to get results, works as a team player, is self-motivated and is able to communicate effectively
  • Utilizes Interpersonal skills to work with many diverse internal partners
