SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST (WORKFORCE)

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief. This role will be based at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Hawaii.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of program and project management processes to ensure completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Collect, analyze, and provide corrective actions to specific program functions to identify and mitigate safety hazards and corresponding preventive procedures.
  • Develop and implement training programs to educate workers, supervisors, managers, and other safety and occupational health personnel on safety and occupational health subjects.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Assess training and development competencies, identify development gaps, and training needs for personnel.
  • Collect data and present findings to leadership with recommendations on how to close performance gaps.
  • Create and implement development goals and objectives for personnel to enhance their qualifications.
  • Manage training programs, determine, and provide training and educational resources to personnel.
  • Develop and provide training program recommendations and guidance documents to support training and development objectives.
Requirements:
  • GS-11: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • GS-12: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Education:
  • GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
  • GS-12: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
