Reports To: Director of Data Applications

Status: Exempt

Department: Data Applications

Schedule & Location: This position is fully remote, working five days from home in or near Bentonville, AR. Normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00pm Mon – Thurs and 8:00am – 3:00pm on Fridays.

Travel: This position will require office visits to Walmart HQ on a weekly basis or as many times as needed.

Eligible to WFH: Yes, 5 days

 

Position Summary:  

The primary focus of this position is to work closely with the Merchant team at Walmart Headquarters. Building a strong working relationship with the local Walmart Merchant team, and providing data driven analysis that is non-biased towards a specific vendor. Recommendations provided to the Walmart team are meant to grow the entire planner category and improve the Walmart customer shopping experience and increase total category sales.  


Team Structure:

Reports directly to Data Applications Director, and works closely with the Walmart Merchant team. Support will be given by Supply Chain team, and 2 remote data analysts.


Because this position deals with confidential information, cross-functional responsibilities are limited, especially with the Sales and Marketing teams.  


Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

·        Provide data-driven recommendations to the Walmart merchant team.

·        Analyze sales data and customer shopping behavior using Walmart’s Luminate.

·        Develop and implement category strategies to achieve sales and profitability goals.

·        Utilize planogramming software to optimize product placement.

·        Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for category growth.

·        Prepare and present regular reports on category performance metrics.

·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute category strategies.

·        Conduct customer research to understand shopping behaviors and preferences.

·        Communicate findings and strategies to internal stakeholders.

·        Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

·        Keep information confidential that is not meant to be shared with all vendors


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

·        3-5 years of experience in category management or a related role.

·        Proficiency in data analysis tools and planogramming software.

·        Experience with Walmart’s Luminate for sales data analysis.

·        Strong analytical and communication skills.

·        Ability to travel to Walmart Layout Center / HQ to meet with buying team on a regular basis, as needed.

·        Proficient in all standard Microsoft Office related programs

·        Excellent communication skills, especially written, a must

·        A strong aesthetic sense; highly organized with excellent attention to detail

·        Team player with a passion for knowledge, growth, and success
