New York, United States High Five Autonomous Technologies Full time

About Us: We are an innovative aerospace company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in flight technology. Our work is at the intersection of advanced control theory and practical application, and we are looking for a talented MPC Algorithm System Developer to join our cutting-edge team.

Job Description: We are seeking an exceptional MPC Algorithm System Developer to design, implement, and optimize Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithms for aerospace applications. This role requires a deep understanding of control theory and the ability to translate complex theoretical concepts into practical, high-performance algorithms that can be deployed in real-world aerospace systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and validate MPC algorithms tailored for aerospace systems, including fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, and VTOL platforms.
  • Work closely with systems engineers to integrate MPC algorithms into flight control systems, ensuring seamless interaction with other control components.
  • Conduct simulations and real-world testing to fine-tune MPC parameters and improve overall system performance.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to explore new approaches and innovations in control systems for aerospace applications.
  • Analyze system requirements and constraints to design MPC strategies that meet stringent safety and performance criteria.
  • Optimize algorithms for real-time execution on embedded systems, considering computational efficiency and resource constraints.
  • Document the development process, providing clear and comprehensive technical reports and user manuals.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Control Systems, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in control theory, particularly in Model Predictive Control (MPC).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing MPC algorithms in real-world applications, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python.
  • Experience with embedded systems and real-time control implementations.
  • Solid understanding of system dynamics, optimization techniques, and numerical methods.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, delivering robust and reliable control solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with flight control systems and aerospace industry standards.
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion, state estimation, and robust control techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical systems and DO-178C certification processes.

What We Value:

  • Practical Application: We’re looking for someone who excels at turning theory into practice. You should have a track record of implementing algorithms that perform reliably in real-world environments.
  • Innovation: We value creativity and a forward-thinking approach. Your work will contribute to the next generation of aerospace technologies.
  • Collaboration: While independence is important, we also value teamwork and the ability to work closely with other engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to achieve our goals.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Aerospace systems demand the highest levels of precision and reliability. We expect our team members to uphold these standards in every aspect of their work.

Interview Process:

  • Initial Interview: An initial discussion to understand your experience, approach to problem-solving, and interest in aerospace applications.
  • Technical Interview: A deep dive into your technical expertise, including discussions on control theory, algorithm development, and practical implementation challenges.

Why Join Us:

  • Work on groundbreaking aerospace technologies that are setting new industry standards.
  • Join a team of passionate engineers and scientists dedicated to innovation and excellence.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • A collaborative and dynamic work environment where your contributions will make a real impact.
