We are currently in search of a Senior Systems Modeling Engineer to join our High Voltage (HV) Systems Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a dynamic and motivated team of engineers focused on developing the next generation of Lucid's HV Systems.
  • Create numerical models of physical systems and optimization tools to evaluate the electrical and thermal performance of HV batteries and power electronics.
  • Utilize existing simulation tools to assist in control and hardware development for HV design, charging, high-performance driving scenarios, and other complex thermal situations.
  • Collaborate closely with the vehicle simulation team to integrate HV system models into vehicle models, ensuring proper revision control and documentation.
  • Support strategy, design, simulation, and validation efforts by working alongside applications, battery, power electronics, hardware, and testing teams.
  • Develop simulation tools and propose control strategies to optimize efficiency, power, and thermal capabilities while considering costs for current and future products.
  • Create tools to facilitate the pre-processing of simulation parameters and the post-processing of simulation results.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in systems modeling and simulation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and other specialized software.
  • Comprehensive understanding of modeling techniques for simulating lithium-ion cells, battery packs, power electronics, and thermal systems.
  • Ability to process and document results clearly and effectively to communicate findings to team members and other departments.
  • Strong experience in scripting simulation workflows, even with limited documentation.
  • Proven problem-solving skills through appropriate analysis and design modifications.
  • Excellent communication abilities in both technical and non-technical contexts.
  • A collaborative spirit, ownership mindset, and enthusiasm for the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of battery technology, power electronics, and simulation methodologies.
  • Additional expertise in thermal, electromagnetics, or material science.
  • Familiarity with scripting for simulation process automation.
  • Experience with Python programming.
  • Strong understanding of the interactions between HV systems and other vehicle subsystems.
  • Experience with version control tools, such as Git or SVN.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required; a Master's or PhD is preferred.

The salary range for this position is determined by various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and other relevant business considerations.
